Hiromoto Seki, newly appointed Consul General of Japan for Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico, spent his first few days in Los Angeles welcoming the New Year with a visit to the Rose Parade and celebrating his 52nd birthday.

Based in Los Angeles, Seki succeeds former Consul General Taizo Watanabe, who is now deputy chief of mission at the Japanese Embassy in Washington. The assignment marks Seki’s second tour of duty in the United States. He previously served at the Consulate General of Japan in New York from 1961 to 1964.
