Orange Harvest Up 5% from Last Season
The nation’s orange harvest for the 1987-88 season is estimated at 191 million boxes, up 3% from the December forecast and 5% above last season, the Agriculture Department said Monday.
The Florida crop, based on Jan. 1 indications, was estimated at 135 million boxes, up 4% from December and 13% more than last season, the report said.
California production was forecast at 52 million boxes, unchanged from December but 11% below the 1986-87 crop.
The Arizona crop was estimated at 3.05 million boxes, the same as the previous forecast but 3% below last season.
