Hughes Television Network will use encoding and decoding devices produced by General Instrument Corp.’s San Diego-based VideoCipher division to scramble television signals for major league baseball games, the companies said.
Hughes will purchase more than 20 scramblers, several hundred descramblers and a computer system to control satellite transmission of professional baseball games, beginning with the 1988 season, a Hughes spokesman said.
