ACTIVITIES ON KING’S BIRTHDAY
The following activities are scheduled in Orange County on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
Today:
Vendors will sell items related to black culture in front of UC Irvine’s University Center as part of a “Cultural Fair,” 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Orange County Mass Choir (comprising members of black churches in the county) will perform at 7:30 p.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 W. 5th Street, Santa Ana.

Friday:
Martin Luther King Jr. Awareness Day activities at UCI Medical Center in Orange will include two screenings of the film, “I Have a Dream.” Horace Mitchell, vice chancellor of student affairs, will speak about King in a session at noon in the library, Room 2116. Robert Leonard, assistant finance director, will speak about King at a 3 p.m. screening in Building 53, Room D.
An assembly will be held at 11:20 a.m. at Mountain View High School. Speakers include Harvey Williams, a recruitment counselor at UC Irvine who marched with King.
Candlelight worship service at 7:30 p.m. at First Mission Baptist Church, 1817 W. 3rd St., Santa Ana.
Monday:
The Rev. George W. Banks, president of the Baptist Minister Conference, will speak at a celebration service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 1915 W. McFadden Ave., Santa Ana.
