Santa Monica OKs Street-Vending Ban
The Santa Monica City Council on Tuesday clamped a 180-day moratorium on street vending while a comprehensive ordinance is prepared.
Under the moratorium, some street vendors will be permitted only on Santa Monica Pier, at the Farmers Market and at special events.
Council members have instructed city attorneys drawing up the ordinance to cover vendors selling wares at Palisades Park and the 3rd Street Mall, in addition to the pier, market and special events.
