There’s No Reason for So-Called Sport

Share

I just couldn’t let Frank Carlisi’s comments in Viewpoint (Jan. 2) pass without getting my two cents in.

Carlisi, in his response to Thomas Watterson’s complaint on bighorn sheep hunting, called Watterson a “jerk.” This response seems typical of those who try to defend the so-called sport of hunting. They resort to name-calling and insults instead of engaging in intelligent and reasoned debate.

To Carlisi, I would merely say: Hunting is not a sport. If it were, then sheep, deer, elephants and rabbits would be issued hunting permits, guns, bullets and telescopic sights.
