Kim Still has been named vice president and general manager of the new MD-90 airliner programs at the Douglas Aircraft Co. division of McDonnell Douglas. Still, 57, had been vice president-commercial marketing, the Americas, for the Long Beach-based transport aircraft manufacturer.
Still’s appointment signifies a milestone in the MD-90 program. He will lead a drive to capture launch orders for the McDonnell Douglas MD-91 and MD-92, new mid-size transports powered by twin Ultra High Bypass engines. UHB engines use advanced jet turbines to drive large “propulsors”--counter-rotating sets of large-diameter fan systems with broad, contoured blades.
