A 21-year-old Long Beach man was arrested Wednesday by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of killing one security guard and wounding another at a townhouse complex in Carson.

Mark Anthony Dyer was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held at the Carson station, Deputy Hal Grant said Wednesday. Detectives would not say what led to his arrest, except that the gun used in the shootings was recovered when they arrested Dyer at his home.

Last Saturday night around 10 p.m., Grant said, security guards Sui Faatuaso, 20, of Long Beach and Arona Sooialo, 25, of Compton, were on routine patrol at Scottsdale Estates at 23400 S. Avalon Blvd. Shots rang out and Faatuaso was fatally wounded. Sooialo survived but remains in serious condition. Both men were unarmed, Grant said, and no motive has been determined for the shootings.
