Southern California Edison’s profit rose 2.6% to $789 million in 1987 on a revenue increase of 3.3% to $5.49 billion. The Rosemead-based utility attributed the increase to an award from the Public Utilities Commission for favorable coal plant operating performance, increased earnings from non-utility subsidiaries and cost-control efforts.
