WCAC Roundup : Haugen Leads St. Mary’s to Win

Forward Robert Haugen scored 16 points to lead St. Mary’s to a 66-49 West Coast Athletic Conference victory over the University of San Francisco Saturday night at Moraga, Calif.
The Gaels took a 16-3 lead and were ahead, 27-17, at halftime. USF never came closer than eight points in the second half, and its six-game winning streak was broken.
Al Lewis had 13 points for St. Mary’s, 10-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
The Dons (11-6, 3-1) were led by Mark McCathrion with 12 points.
Santa Clara 56, U. of San Diego 54--Mitch Burley scored 24 points to lead the Broncos to victory at San Diego.
Marty Munn hit a three-pointer with five seconds remaining to pull San Diego within two points, but Santa Clara held on.
The Broncos climbed to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in the WCAC. San Diego fell to 8-9 and 0-4.
The Toreros were led by Danny Means with 20 points.
