Pier Razing Closes Scripps Beach Area
Scripps Beach will be closed beginning this week while work crews demolish and remove the 70-year-old Scripps Pier, which is being replaced.
Temporary barriers will be erected on the sand to mark the closure area and swimmers and surfers are asked to maintain a 300-foot distance from the pier. The demolition project is expected to take six weeks.
