Local News in Brief : Temple Vandal Sentenced
A white supremacist who admitted painting anti-Semitic graffiti on a Glendale synagogue last month was sentenced Monday to 28 months in prison.
Joseph Dunlap, 33, tried to make a statement before sentencing but Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Horowitz refused to allow it, Deputy Dist. Atty. Pamela Ferrero said.
Dunlap pleaded no contest earlier this month to one felony count of vandalism to a synagogue stemming from the Dec. 7 vandalism of Temple Sinai.
Dunlap allegedly called police after the incident, identified himself as “Joe” and said he was a member of the “National Social White People’s Party,” which was responsible for the vandalism. He was later arrested in his van, in which he lives, in Los Angeles.
In addition to the 28-month term, Horowitz ordered Dunlap to serve concurrent time for violating parole for an earlier robbery conviction.
