East Socked by Heavy Snow
A storm swirling through the East today dumped more than a foot of snow that closed schools, knocked out power to thousands in several states and caused hundreds of traffic accidents.
Schools were closed in parts of Maine, Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, western Pennsylvania, Vermont, Maryland, Ohio and Tennessee. The storm dumped up to 19 inches of snow on Stillwater, N.Y., 18 inches on parts of Vermont, 16 inches on Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, 12 to 20 inches on the Berkshires in Massachusetts and a foot on Maine and Newbury, Conn.
