County Swimmers Compete in Canada Meet

Seventeen Orange County swimmers competed for the Southern California Swimming All-Stars last weekend, traveling to Canada to face the British Columbia All-Star team.

In the girls’ 15-18 division, Julie Martin of Fullerton Aquatics won the 400-meter freestyle, the 200 butterfly and the 400 individual medley. Kristin Winn of the Mission Viejo Nadadores won the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle.

In the boys’ 15-18 division, Scott DeBoer of Fullerton won the 200- and 100-meter breaststroke and Rafel Szukala of the Nadadores won the 200 and 100-meter butterfly. Irvine Novaquatics’ Chad Hundeby won the 400 freestyle, Greg Larson won the 200 freestyle and Gary Van Boxtel won the 400 individual medley.

Natasha Kohne of the Nadadores won the 200 and 400 individual medleys in the girls’ 13-14 division and teammate Shanna Cox won the 200 butterfly.

Alisa Burden of Fullerton won the 200 backstroke and the 200 freestyle in the girls’ 11-12 division. In the boys’ division, Pat Collins of Tustin won the 100 breaststroke.
