Monterey Park : Reservoir to Be Replaced
The City Council has voted to replace a concrete water reservoir that was badly damaged in the Oct. 1 earthquake with a new steel tank at a cost of $435,000.
The reservoir, 1320 Sombrero Drive, was drained and taken out of service after the quake. Nels Palm, public works director, recommended that the city demolish the reservoir, which has a capacity of 1.5 million gallons, and install a steel tank. The city expects to receive $339,000 in state and federal aid toward it.
