Ex-Mayor Lindsay Has Heart Surgery

NEW YORK —
Former Mayor John V. Lindsay underwent a 4 1/2-hour operation to replace a leaky heart valve and is recovering in critical but stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said today. Lindsay, 67, was operated on at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center on Wednesday, spokeswoman Kathy Thompson said.
