Gas Bills Soar in Winter Chill
The following is presented with reference to the article on soaring gas bills.
Once upon a time, Americans used to pay less for the purchase of merchandise in large quantities compared to prices for small quantities. Our gas companies turned this long-established principle around, but they do not deserve any credit for this--highly questionable--accomplishment. Many years ago, Charlie McCarthy opened a hotdog stand selling hotdogs at 5 cents apiece or two for 15 cents. When Edgar Bergen asked him why he charged those prices, Charlie’s answer was: “I make more money this way.” This time, however, it does not sound half as funny.
