Bush and Rather Squabble on the Evening News
Rather should be applauded for his handling of Bush. It’s about time someone treated him like what he is--a man, a human being. Bush wants to hide behind the “respect” he thinks we owe him simply because he is vice president without doing anything to earn it.
This is the kind of prevailing attitude that makes situations like Watergate and the Iranscam possible in the first place. If people in general, and reporters in particular, would treat our public officials like men instead of deities, perhaps they would begin to feel a little more responsibility toward the people who put them in office.
Meanwhile, please note that Bush, who wants to be President, has still not answered the questions regarding his role in the Iran-Contra scandal.
