Robbery Suspect’s Poor Choice Gives Deputies a Quick Arrest
A suspected bank robber picked the wrong target Friday when he tried to hold up a savings and loan, across the street from a sheriff’s station in Temple City.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Hal Grant said the suspect, identified as Steven Hobold, 36, of San Gabriel, was armed with a handgun when he ordered a teller at United Savings & Loan, 5607 Rosemead Blvd., to hand over the money.
The teller complied, but another bank employee discreetly alerted sheriff’s deputies at the Temple City station as Hobold was grabbing the loot, Grant said. Deputies captured Hobold as he was making his way across a parking lot.
