Twelve Marines were injured when a gasoline-powered cooking stove exploded in a field mess hall at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center near Twentynine Palms, a spokesman for the base said. Six of the injured were transported by helicopter to the San Bernardino County Medical Center where they were treated for second-degree burns, Chief Warrant Officer Douglas Hauth said. Six others were treated at the base for minor injuries, he said.
