A group of Westside Latino activists will launch a membership drive for a new chapter of the Mexican American Political Assn.

The meeting is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Market in Colorado Place, 2425 Colorado Ave. The group’s activities and bylaws will be explained, said Antonio Vazquez, director of the Santa Monica-based Latino Resource Center.

Vazquez and about a dozen other people have been active in forming the new chapter to spur nonpartisan political activism among Westside Latinos. The chapter will be the first on the Westside.
