Comets Beat Lazers in Overtime, 5-4

Dale Mitchell scored his 30th goal of the season 59 seconds into overtime Friday night to lift the Kansas City Comets to a 5-4 Major Indoor Soccer League victory over the Lazers.

Mitchell’s goal came after Barry Wallace and Chacho rallied the Comets from a 4-2 deficit. Chacho tied the score with 5:07 left in regulation. Wallace’s goal, his second of the game, came 12:36 into the third quarter when the Lazers were just 14 seconds away from killing two penalties on Thompson Usiyan.

Usiyan, who received penalties for tripping and misconduct on the same play, also had two goals and assisted on a first-quarter goal by Chris Chueden. Paul Child scored the fourth goal for the Lazers (13-14) midway through the third quarter.

Kansas City (14-14) also received a goal from Jan Goossens, who scored his 23rd of the season.
