Gunman Fires Into Car, Kills 17-Year-Old Boy
A 17-year-old boy was shot to death Sunday when a gunman walked up to his car at a Wilmington intersection, yelled out a gang slogan and pumped a volley of bullets into the car, police said.
The boy, whose name was withheld until his relatives could be notified, was driving with several friends on Wilmington Boulevard near D Street when he was shot at 1:10 a.m., Lt. Mike Melton said.
One of the youth’s friends drove him to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he died a short time later, Melton said. No one else in the car was injured.
The gunman fled on foot.
