A Congressional Budget Office report shows that Medicare spending for nursing home and home health care is expected to drop more than $2.4 billion by 1992, Rep. Claude Pepper (D-Fla.), chairman of the House Select Committee on Aging’s subcommittee on health and long-term care, said. Sheridan Gladhill of the Home Health Care Financing Administration said that while he had not seen the report, the figures could simply be reflecting the amount of time it takes to tabulate expenditures. The report summarizes current and 1987 estimates of Medicare spending for home health care and skilled nursing facilities for 1983-1993.
