Local News in Brief : Anaheim : 2 Separate Gas Leaks Discovered, Plugged

Share

Southern California Gas Co. personnel had to excavate and plug two separate gas leaks in Anaheim Hills Tuesday. A Fire Department official said residents in the two neighborhoods were never threatened.

Fire Department Capt. Ron Hamrick said a television cable worker digging a hole to install a new line detected gas smells at a cul de sac in the 6200 block of Camino Manzano shortly after 10 a.m. He said workers from the gas company discovered the underground leak and repaired the small cut in the line by 3 p.m.

Hamrick said no one was evacuated and that gas was shut off to only a few homes while the repair work was done.

The second leak was discovered by Southern California Gas Co. officials at 2 p.m. on Rio Grande Drive and repaired within three hours, Hamrick said, adding that no one was evacuated in that neighborhood.

Hamrick said that the two gas leaks were not connected and that Southern California Gas Co. officials had been searching for the second leak for two days after they received complaints of gas odors in the neighborhood.
