Lucy Ammeian has received the $1,000 Garfield Medical Center Humanitarian Award for her service to Monterey Park. Ammeian, who has been involved in the community for 35 years, is the police and fire departments’ appointed representative to the city’s Personnel Board.
Ammeian has also served on the Monterey Park Commission on Aging, where she was active in the establishment of Langley Senior Center and in passage of city legislation that requires building codes to accommodate the handicapped. Ammeian was selected by a panel of community and business leaders who received nominations from residents.
