Ten candidates for the Long Beach City College Board of Trustees have lined up to compete for three openings on the five-member board. A fourth opening, created by the death two weeks ago of board President Donald H. Scott--will be filled by appointment.

Running for reelection on April 12 are two incumbents: Trudy Polsky, an attorney, and C. Thomas Dean, a retired dean from California State University, Long Beach. Both have been board members since 1979. David H. Burcham, an eight-year veteran of the board, is not seeking reelection.

The challengers are C. William Avery, an educator; Sidney S. Guthman, a rabbi; Bob Livingstone, a student; Bennett A. Long, a retired college administrator; Weckford Morgan, an escrow officer; Judith Olmsted Powell, an educator; E. Gerrie Schipske, a health care executive, and Darwin R. Thorpe, an educator.
