A 16-year-old Amerasian girl brought to the United States by Vietnam veteran Barry Huntoon said that he is the only father she will ever recognize, even though her mother recently said Huntoon is not the father. Tran Thi Tuyet Mai, who in October came to live in the Butte County home of Huntoon, 38, told reporters her mother’s disclosure will have no effect on their relationship. “I was very happy to know that my father was looking for me,” Tuyet Mai said in Chico. “I was excited. My only dream was to know who is my father. Barry is my father. I will only accept Barry as my father.” Huntoon and his wife, Laura, said they want Tuyet Mai to live with them. Tanh Thi Ba, the girl’s mother who recently arrived from Vietnam, said she would allow that.
