Uprising at Mississippi Prison Quelled by Guards

PARCHMAN, Miss. —
A lock-down was ordered Thursday for Parchman State Penitentiary after guards quelled an uprising by prisoners armed with homemade knives who tried to take over the maximum security unit.
Several prison employees, including Supt. Don Cabana, and several inmates were injured in the incident Wednesday, officials said. The cause of the uprising had not been determined.
