Campaigning in Iowa and New Hampshire

Share

Two observations on Iowa’s “elections.” First, hearing Robertson call Tom Brokaw a “religious bigot,” is about like hearing Tammy Bakker call Snow White a loose woman. However, when he stated on a Tuesday morning interview that the “really important test will come” in the following weeks in such strongholds of American voters as “Wyoming, North Dakota, Maine and Nebraska,” I finally realized that anyone truly can run for President in this country, particularly those without a true grasp of reality.

Second, it seems that a small number of Type-B Americans feel they have their collective fingers on the pulse of the nation and the press is obviously going along with that assumption. Unfortunately, it is us Type-A Americans who foot the bill so that the farmers in Iowa can continue their much-prized life styles. We have to watch our tax dollars go down the drain in such a useless exercise in futility. Consider this: Iowa, a population of approximately 2.3 million, a median income of $13,000 (under poverty level for California) is telling the rest of the country that what we need to turn this country around is Pat Robertson. Amazing.
