Tidal Wave of Public Concern Over Water Use

Share

David Johnston’s article, “Down the Drain” (Feb. 2), about the contemplated water conservation measures for Southern California is an insult to your readers’ intelligence.

Unlike metals or fuels, water is a renewable resource. Provided our planners don’t allow overbuilding beyond the safe annual yield of our water supplies, we can continue to use this resource every year in the same quantities that we’ve become accustomed to in the past. Diminished use (conservation) merely allows for a greater population. That certainly will make the developers happy, but it doesn’t ease the load on the sewage treatment plants or help the freeway congestion problem.

Might sell a few more newspapers, though.

I gotta go now. I need to wash down my driveway.
