James (Buddy) McGirt battered hometown favorite Frankie Warren in Corpus Christi, Tex., with a smashing left jab and jolting overhand rights and won the vacant International Boxing Federation junior welterweight championship when the scheduled 15-round fight was stopped in the 12th round.
