Screenings in British Film Festival : FRIDAY
Following are capsule reviews of screenings in the American Film Institute’s BritFest during the UK/LA ’88 Festival.
‘ROCINANTE’
Goodson, 6:30 p . m.
The tilted reference to Don Quixote’s horse in the title of this mock thriller rumination does nothing to cut through the purposefully oblique narrative of Ann and Eduardo Guedes’ film. John Hurt is cast adrift in the English countryside to wander into deserted houses, befriend a female lorry driver and sidestep a Greek chorus of one. If it sounds a tad pretentious and distant, you’ve got the picture in focus.
