Shanon Fitzpatrick, a fourth-grade teacher at Morse Elementary in Placentia Unified School District, is a winner of one of two 1988 Bravo awards given at ceremonies at the Music Center in Los Angeles. The event honors outstanding teachers in arts education in the metropolitan Los Angeles area.

The two winners were chosen from a field of 134 teachers in the metropolitan Los Angeles area who were nominated for the honor.

Fitzpatrick was cited for “leadership in integrating arts into a traditional curriculum.” She is the founder and director of a fine-arts appreciation club, Art Attacks, that meets after regular school hours. Music Center officials said Fitzpatrick also has “established a traveling art exhibit that goes from one classroom to another” and has helped with portable exhibits of the Laguna Art Museum.

The annual Bravo awards are coordinated by the Music Center Education Division and are sponsored by the Jeffrey Melamed Memorial Fund.
