Local News in Brief : South Laguna : Wiring Project to Close Lane on Coast Highway

Share

San Diego Gas & Electric Co. reports that construction to bury overhead utility lines along Coast Highway in South Laguna will result in the daytime closure of one lane of the highway until sometime in June.

Mike Tao, an SDG&E; district engineer in Orange County, said the Hood Corp. has been given the $700,000 contract for the project, expected to take about five months to complete.

Tao said crews will begin digging at 5th Avenue and continue south to La Senda Drive. “One lane will be blocked off (from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the construction zone to assure safety for workers and motorists,” he said.

Until all the underground cable lines are laid, the overhead lines will remain in place to continue electrical service to customers, he said.
