Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, warning residents of the dangers of storing containers of partially used toxic products such as paint and motor oil, approved a program today to collect hazardous household wastes.
Under the $1.3-million program, scheduled to begin in June, city sanitation officials will set up one-day collection points in seven points throughout the city where residents can bring their discarded household products considered hazardous. The program also calls for door-to-door pickups of the wastes from 20,000 homes in the districts of Eastside council members Richard Alatorre and Gloria Molina.
