While the National Weather Service’s much-ballyhooed Santa Ana winds failed to materialize as expected on Friday, they were strong enough to blow over a mobile home in Pauma Valley, authorities said.

In the mountains, winds gusted up to 70 m.p.h. between midnight and 6 a.m. In Pauma Valley, the wind tore shingles from roofs and a mobile home was overturned about 11 p.m.

“Gusty winds did blow in the lowlands of San Diego County, but they didn’t reach warning criteria,” National Weather Service forecaster Frank Purdue said. For a warning to be issued, the winds must reach a sustained 40 m.p.h., with gusts of 50 m.p.h.

The high winds that were expected to rip through San Diego never arrived because they were deflected by a high-pressure system that shifted them eastward toward Arizona, Purdue said.

For the weekend, Purdue predicted clear skies and pleasant temperatures with winds of 15 m.p.h to 25 m.p.h. Night temperatures are expected to be cold, Purdue said.

In the inland areas, the temperatures will reach the mid-70s and are expected to reach a high of 77 on Sunday. The lows will be 32 to 42.

Highs along the coast will range from 67 to 72 degrees today, and up to 75 Sunday. Coastal lows will be 38 to 48.
