Ex-Officers Sentenced in Torture
A fired Huntington Park police officer today was sentenced to two years in prison for torturing a suspect with a stun gun, while his partner was sentenced to 180 days in County Jail.
“This act demonstrated a gross violation of the public trust,” Superior Court Judge Michael Berg said as he sentenced former Officer William Lustig, 32, to state prison and former Officer Robert Rodriguez, 26, to three years’ probation plus the jail time. Both defendants were taken into custody after sentencing, but will be allowed to post an appeal bond so they can stay free while they appeal their convictions.
