The mother of slain artist Pamela Russ has been awarded a $2,689,188.70 judgment against Russ’ fugitive husband.

A jury deliberated less than an hour Monday before making the punitive award to Ginger Allen, 66, of Encinitas. Allen had alleged that Charles Russ bilked her out of $75,000.

Some $620,000 of the judgment will come from Pamela Russ’s life insurance policies, according to Allen’s attorney, Robert Moore of El Cajon. Charles Russ was not represented by counsel during the one-day trial before San Diego Superior Court Judge Arthur Jones.

Moore said steps will be taken to discover heretofore-hidden assets of Charles Russ. Moore said there have been indications that Russ invested in property and jewels.

Pamela Russ’ battered body was found a year ago near Torrey Pines State Reserve. There have been no arrests. Charles Russ disappeared in August after police issued a criminal warrant for his arrest for allegedly bilking Allen.
