Local News in Brief : Countywide : Property Owners to Get Weed Removal Notices
As part of the annual weed abatement program, the county Fire Department Wednesday will begin notifying property owners in the unincorporated areas of the county to remove weeds and debris from their property.
The abatement program, now in its 43rd year, is designed to reduce the start and spread of wildfires.
Properties not cleared by April 6 and maintained throughout the fire season are subject to clearing by county-contracted crews. The property owners will then be charged a fee based upon the square footage cleared, plus a $92 administrative fee assessed against each parcel cleared.
