Local News in Brief : Man Charged in Shooting
Kenneth Madden, 23, was charged Wednesday with attempted murder in the Feb. 15 shooting of a man who was trying to keep drug dealers from storing their drugs in broken-down cars behind his Crenshaw-area apartment.
Michael Campbell, 27, was seriously wounded but was able to identify his attacker for police, officials said. Madden was arrested Feb. 29.
Campbell’s wife, Mary, said he had gone to the alley behind their apartment to try to get drug dealers to stop using his cars. A few minutes later, she said, she heard shots and saw her husband bent over, holding his side.
