Pearl Butler; ‘Grand Ole Opry’ Performer
Pearl Butler, 60, who teamed with her husband Carl at the “Grand Ole Opry” for many years. Carl and Pearl Butler were best known for their 1963 hit “Don’t Let Me Cross Over.” The husband-wife team also recorded such songs as “Forbidden Street,” “I’m Hanging Up The Phone” and “Just Thought I’d Let You Know.” They also appeared in the movie “Second Fiddle to a Steel Guitar.” In Nashville on Tuesday of complications stemming from an overactive thyroid gland.
