Sunshine made to order for outdoor activities is the San Diego forecast for this weekend.

National Weather Service meteorologist Wilbur Shigehara said the showers that passed through earlier in the week are gone for now and that San Diego will be protected from foul weather for the next couple of days by a high-pressure system.

“It looks like a real nice weekend coming up, but we might get a little more night and morning low clouds, especially on Sunday,” Shigehara said.

The clouds are expected to break up by mid-morning, but may last a little longer Sunday, he said.

Highs today and Saturday will be near normal for this time of year. Sunday will be cooler by a few degrees in all areas, but the fair weather will continue.

Coastal residents can plan for Friday and Saturday highs of 67 to 72 degrees and lows of 47 to 55. Inland highs will be 70 to 76, with lows of 40 to 48.

Desert highs will be between 78 and 85, with nighttime lows in the 40s all weekend. Mountain areas will be relatively cool, with daytime temperatures between 45 and 55 degrees and lows of 24 to 30.

Although the weekend will be dry, Shigehara noted that more showers are likely.

“March is normally the second-wettest month of the year in San Diego, so we’re not out of the woods yet,” he said.

The high-pressure front may break down occasionally during the next three months, allowing rain to come through the area, Shigehara said. But that same system should keep temperatures a few degrees higher than normal.
