NHL Roundup : Winnipeg Hands Vancouver Sixth Straight Loss

Paul MacLean capped a three-man rush at 14:38 of the third period with his 29th goal of the season Thursday night at Winnipeg, lifting the Jets to a 4-3 victory over Vancouver. It was the sixth straight loss for the Canucks.

Vancouver (21-40-7) remained in last place in the Smythe Division. The Kings, who were idle, stayed six points ahead of the Canucks.

At 6:25, Laurie Boschman had tied the score, 3-3, with Winnipeg’s 93rd power-play goal of the year. Boschman trapped Peter Taglianetti’s drive form the point and backhanded the puck past goaltender Frank Caprice.

Randy Gilhen cut the Vancouver lead to 3-2 at 3:55 of the third period when he poked in Mario Marois’s rebound.

Calgary 6, Philadelphia 3--Hakan Loob scored four goals to power the Flames over the Flyers, halting the Flyers’ five-game winning streak.

Loob, who has 38 goals this season, helped the Flames extend their unbeaten streak to five games and increase their winning streak over Philadelphia to five games. The Flames are 38-20-7.

The game was the Flames’ first in the Saddledome since Feb.1, when the Olympic Winter Games forced Calgary to take an 11-game road trip.

Boston 5, Toronto 3--Reed Larson converted a pass from Geoff Courtnall with 2:15 remaining to snap a 3-3 tie and lift the Bruins past the Maple Leafs at the Boston Garden.

Larson’s goal came only 38 seconds after Toronto’s Gary Leeman had tied the game, tapping in Tom Fergus’ rebound.

Boston’s Cam Neely completed his third three-goal game of the season by scoring into an empty net with six seconds remaining.

Detroit 6, Minnesota 3--Adam Oates and Bob Probert each scored twice to lead the Red Wings over the North Stars at Detroit.

Montreal 4, St. Louis 2--Mike McPhee scored two goals and Brian Skrudland had the go-ahead goal and added an assist to lead the Canadiens over the Blues at St. Louis.
