Local News in Brief : Orange : Police Chief to Undergo Surgery Next Week
Police Chief Wayne V. Streed is scheduled to undergo surgery next week for an unspecified neurological disorder, a Police Department spokesman said Friday.
“This is an ongoing medical problem,” said Sgt. Timm Browne. “Testing recently showed that the chief should undergo surgery.”
Streed is not in the hospital, Brown said. He declined to provide other details about Streed’s medical condition.
Streed, 54, has been police chief for three years, Brown said. He has 32 years of police experience, 25 of those with the Orange department, Brown said.
Before coming to Orange in 1963, Steed was an officer with the Santa Ana and Omaha police departments, Brown said.
