Local News in Brief : Countywide : Frizzelle Seeks a Tax Break for Car-Poolers
Ride-sharing motorists would receive a tax deduction equal to 10% of their wages for car-pooling or using public transit to and from their jobs under legislation introduced last week by Assemblyman Nolan Frizzelle (R-Huntington Beach).
Frizzelle said his “California Traffic Reduction Incentive Act” is a “much better solution” than the “millions of extra dollars . . . diverted to add diamond lanes and for enforcement against violators.”
Frizzelle has opposed installation of car-pool lanes on the Costa Mesa and San Diego freeways in Orange County as being “punitive” to a majority of motorists.
Frizzelle’s bill, AB 2859, is awaiting committee hearings in Sacramento.
