Police today found what appears to be the $300,000 painting by French impressionist Claude Monet that was stolen from the Fisher Community Center nearly a year ago.

“We’re extremely pleased,” said Rex Ryden, head of the Fisher Foundation. “Obviously, it’s going to be something that will be of value as far as the entire art world is concerned.” Lt. Darrell Templeton said the department recovered the painting, “The Fishing Boats in Front of the Cliffs at D’Etretat,” in a mail drop box in the town of LeGrand, about nine miles east of Marshalltown.
