NLRB Issues Complaint Against the Cowboys

The National Labor Relations Board issued a complaint Tuesday against the Dallas Cowboys, charging management threatened players with reprisals if they took part in union activities during last season’s National Football League players’ strike.

The NLRB issued the complaint after an investigation by the agency’s general counsel, in which Cowboy President-General Manager Tex Schramm and team management were allowed to present evidence. A hearing on the complaint is set for April 11 before an NLRB judge.

Some of the charges forming the basis of the complaint:

--Threatening running back Tony Dorsett with loss of deferred compensation and forcing him into early repayment of a loan specified in his contract unless he crossed the picket line.
