Another revival house bit the dust last weekend as the Los Feliz Theatre turned in its films noirs for current fare. Academy-Award nominee “The Last Emperor” opened Friday, instead of the scheduled double feature “Psycho” and “Touch of Evil.” Tom Cooper, who recently acquired the lease on the Los Feliz from Laemmle Theatres, told The Times he was losing money because “there just wasn’t a demand for revival films.” Ari Sikora, a representative from the Friends of Los Feliz Theatre, said the group is “ecstatic” about the change in emphasis, adding that the neighborhood was never revival-oriented. A spokesman for Councilman Michael Woo--who has been interested in converting the Los Feliz into a performing arts theater--acknowledged the change happened “rather quietly,” but said Woo does not object to the theater’s new use. The councilman will continue with his conversion plans should the change in films fail to attract audiences, the spokesman said.
