‘No Comment’ From Bush on Indictments in Iran-Contra Affair
Vice President George Bush has no comment on the indictments of former national security adviser John M. Poindexter and Lt. Col. Oliver L. North, an aide said today.
The aide, asked what Bush’s response was to the indictments of Poindexter and North as well as retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Richard V. Secord and businessman Albert A. Hakim, replied: “He has no comment.”
A few weeks ago, Bush dubbed North a “national hero,” the same description that President Reagan had given of the former national security deputy when the Iran-Contra scandal broke.
